OGMORE-BY-SEA / SOUTHERNDOWN WALK

Sunday 5th February

This will be a circular, mostly gentle walk along the beautiful Glamorgan Heritage Coast. The route is delightfully diverse and includes a river estuary, grassy sand dunes, rural aspects and spectacular coastal views.

WALK DETAILS:

Date: Sunday 5th February

Time: 9.00 am meet for 9.15am start

Meeting Point: free parking area on right hand side of the road between Ogmore Castle and Ogmore-By-Sea car park (black & white chevrons mark the spot). Nearest postcode for Sat navs is CF32 0QP

Duration: 6 miles / 3 hours (approx)

Terrain: mostly coastal paths and grassy sand dunes. A couple of steep gradients around Southerndown otherwise the route is gently undulating Kit: suitable walking boots/walking trainers; comfortable weather-appropriate clothing; drink and snack; walking poles (optional - some spares available) Charity: Velindre Fundraising http://www.velindrefundraising.com/

Suggested donation: £10 Directions: If travelling from M4 come off at J35 and take 1st exit toward Bridgend (4th exit if travelling east). Cross 4 roundabouts. At 5th roundabout take 1st exit (signposted B4265 Llantwit major / B4624 Ogmore-by-sea). Turn right after Ewenny Farm Guesthouse (signposted Ogmore Castle / Southerndown Golf Club). Continue on this road, passing the castle on your right and Pelican pub on your left until you see black and white chevrons on right hand side of the road leading to a grassy area which is our meeting point

Other info: toilet facilities at Ogmore-by Sea (about 15 mins into our walk) and again at our half-way point at Southerndown where we can pause for a short break and enjoy our snacks
